What is the merchandising tool kit
Basic tools- themes art principles elements of design
Wall dividers
separate a wall into shorter, clearly defined sections, shape the store’s atmospherics and enhance physical image
Outriggers
- can be decorative or functional
- mounted to walls at right angles to divide
Soffit Treatments
A soffit is a long ledge, arch, or box reaching down from the ceiling (unusable wall space)
Decorative lighting fixtures
-add warmth, interest and personality to walls
should not be the only method of lighting used
Lighting Techniques
- merchandising walls are lit separately
- accent lighting provides focus and visual impact
To create an interesting wall presentation, select two or three of these types of fixtures
- face outs: straight arms
- face outs: waterfalls
- garment rods
- product shelves
- bins
- display shelves
signage and graphics
- signs must be legible
- larger signs/graphics/prints work best for upper walls
Guidelines for wall setups (there are 5)
- tops hung above bottoms, give space between, and coordinate the two
- hand pants 3 inches from the floors
- hang garments with similar sleeve lengths together
- keep average customer height in mind
- place hangers in a way so items are easy to remove
fold techniques
