then, Safety-security and freedom from fear (psychological–>personality)
Basic anxiety-Response that develops in a child’s when she/he perceives that important people in their life undermine their needs

2) Moving against people-expansive type
(Q): Why use this interpersonal strategy
(A): If i hold a real power over you, how can you dare harm me
interpersonal strategies of defense-detached (3)
3)Moving away from people
(Q): Why use this interpersonal strategy
(A): If I am not around (distance i.e. physical or psychological) how can I get hurt.
Real self
We are all born with a healthy real self (inner force..our potential growth) Idealized image: -distorted view of self -Unattainable, its an illusion created from feelings of inadequacy.
Tyranny of “I should” (tyranny drives idealized images)
Use the idea of the “I shoulds” and neurotic needs to explain _____.
- Tyrannical control (ex. have to become model thin)
- if eating disorder?-neurotic need for approval?
- solution-TO (complaint)-please others and live up to their expectations
- -> results is an unhealthy idealized image
- -> Neurotic need =#10 ex. have to be model thin
