He was known for his strength, speed, and beauty. He was brought up by Chiron, could outrace a deer, and catch a flying dart that he had thrown. He could stop a mad team of horses, or face a lion or bear

He would be greater than his father
His life would be short. He would die in the height of his glory before the gates of Troy
How did Thetis try to cheat the Fates and how did she fail?
Thetis dipped Achilles in the river Styx which made him invincible. She did not dip his heel that she was holding which was his vulnerable spot
How did Thetis try to protect Achilles from going to war in Troy
She sent Achilles to live with the King of Scyros in disguise as his daughter. When the messenger summoned Achilles to war the king said only his daughters were with him.
How did Odysseus find Achilles?
Odysseus disguised himself as a merchant to sell his goods to the kings daughters. There were all femine items except for a sword. Achilles chose to buy the sword so Odysseus knew he was a man
What was Achilles reaction to being outwitted by Odysseus? How did Thetis react
Achilles was glad because he wanted to go to war. Thetis wept to see him go.
