Sheer tool
refers to objects that share the same center point
Concentric
converts a stroke path into a closed path that is same width as the oroiginal stroked path
Outline stroke command
two or more paths that are combined in such a way that ‘‘holes’’ appear where ever paths overlaps
Compound Shape
group of present operations that help you combine paths in a variety of ways
Pathfinder
convert two or more overlapp[ing objects into a single merged objects
add to shape area
where objects overlap
Subtract from shape area
creates a single merged object from the area where two or more objects overlap
Intersect shape area
the opposite of subtract delete the backrest objects from the frontmost object
Minus back
divide an object into a component filled face

when you change an objects size, shape or position on the art board - it is a transformation
rotate, scale, reflect, shear, and free transformation
trsnsformation tool
flips objects across axis - good for tracing symmetrical objects like a spoon
Reflect
skew or distort an object - good for depth
Shear
good for transforming multiple objects individually
transform each
creates a copy of a selected path set off by a specified distance
Offset Path command
are good for creating complex or irregular shapes from basic shapes
Pathfinder
offers a quick and simple solution for aligning selected objects along along axis you specify
Align panel
in object menu: window through which you view some or all of the objects behind the mask in stacking order - like putting a picture inside text
