Chapter 3 Vocab Flashcards
Parallel Lines
coplanar lines that do not intersect
Skew Lines
Not parallel, non-coplanar, and do not intersect
Parallel planes
planes that do not intersect
Transversal
lines that intersects 2 or more coplanar lines at distinct points
Alternate Interior angles
non-adjacent interior angles that lie on opposite sides of the transversal
Same side interior angles
interior angles that lie on the same side of the transversal
Corresponding angles
lie on the same side of the transversal and in corresponding positions
Alternate Exterior angles
nonadjacent exterior angles that lie on opposite sides of the transversal
Flow Proof
arrows that show the logical connection between the statements; reasons are written below
Auxiliary line
line that you add to a diagram to help explain relationships in proofs
Exterior angle of a polygon
an angle formed by a side and an extension of an adjacent side
Remote interior angle
form each exterior angle of a triangle, the two nonadjacent interior angles
Slope
ratio of vertical change to the horizontal change between any two points (rise/run)
Slope intercept form
y=mx+b
Point slope form
y-y1=m(x-x1)
