What layer is the inner layer of the skin?
The Dermis.
The Dermis is composed of what?
Of dense connective tissue with collagen fiber that gives the skin strength and elasticity.
What is the Dermis layer supplied with?
Blood Vessels, nerves and contains other skin organs-sweat glands, oil glands. hair follicles and nail roots.
Is the Subcutaneous Layer (hypodermis) an actually part of the skin?
No.
If the Subcutaneous Layer is not an actual part of the skin what it its function?
Helps to anchor the skin to the underlying structures.
What does the Subcutaneous Layer guard?
Guards against heat loss and provides insulation.
The Subcutaneous Layer is largely composed of what?
Of adipose tissue (fat tissue) that is made of lipocytes or fat cells.
The location and thickness of Subcutaneous Tissue is differ by?
By gender.
Where does Men tent to accumulate more Subcutaneous Tissue?
Around the abdomen and shoulders.
Where does Women tent to accumulate more Subcutaneous Tissue?
Around the thighs, hips and buttocks.
