A

A zone around the selection button that still allows the button to be clicked even if it wasn’t directly clicked. Ex Its close enough to count as a click

A

one button used for input
Used in the scanning key boards
Linear Scanning: one letter at a time

Q

Order of Control:

A

The display response to the property controlled

17
Q

Joystick, there are 2

A

Isotonic: Senses displacement of the stick (good for position control)
Isometric: Senses force applied to the stick (good for velocity control)

18
Q

Mental Model/ Metaphors:

A

a physical understanding of an interface or interaction technique based on real-world experience

19
Q

Modes

A

a functioning arrangement of condition
Ex: Phone message light, on or off based on if a message is there
Ex: Keys on a keyboard can have multiple outputs, 3 and #
Nokia basically invented this
Mode switching, ex im powerpoint presenting, not presenting, uses multiple different buttons. Ex mode button on a watch

20
Q

Accelerometers

A

allows tilt or motion as an input, in many new phones

21
Q

Interaction errors:

A

Human and computer interaction error where there is a human error. Ex CAPS LOCK ON, while typing a password, hence many logins will say caps lock is on to prevent this interaction error.
Ex: scrolling frenzy, trying to highlight something but it scrolls farther down
Ex: focus uncertainty, filling a box might moe to the next, or tab might work or neither and you might have to manually click. Ex phone number 3 boxes
Ex: Auto complete, does tab work? Clicking it? enter?
