Chapter 3 Exam 1 Flashcards
Where the blastocyst cavity is w/o embryo
Aembryonic end
Result from the formation of 2 cells w/ the division of the zygote
Blastomeres
Keeps everything in shape- cellular layer
Cytotrophoblast
Implantation on the outside uterus & the outside of the rectal/ intestinal area
Douglas’ pouch
Inner cell mass- centrally located- large cells
Embryoblast
End at which the blastocyst attaches to the uterine wall
Embryonic end
implantation in the tubal area, abdominal cavities, ovary, or rectum
Extrauterine Implantation
Ends of the uterine tube that sweep across the ovulation site & pick up the egg
Fimbriae
hollow ball of cells w/ immature egg in the center
Follicle
Implanted in the incorrect site of the uterus far down in the uterus
Internal OS
Implantation occurs inside the uterus in an undesirable location
Intrauterine implantation
Abdominal space- may implant on the intestines- can be absorbed by the body & become calcified
Mesentary implantation
Continued division of cells- transition from zygote- 16-30 cells
Morula
Implantation on the ovary- removal of blastocyst & ovary due to scarring of ovary
Ovarian implantation
Syncytial layer ideal for penetration into the endometrium of the uterus
Syntrophoblast
