9
Q

what happens in the light dependent stage

A

H2O molecules are split into hydrogen and oxygen.

The hydrogen is transported to the next stage while the oxygen is released

13
Q

what is glycolysis

A

glycolysis is a complex set of chemical reactions which occurs in the cytosol of a cell. Basically it takes glucose and separates it into 2 pyruvate molecules and 2 Hydrogen atoms and also produces a small point of ATP

Q

What is the krebs cycle

A

a set of chemical reactions which occurs in the matrix of the mitochondria of a cell. this uses the newly formed pyruvate molecules.

16
Q

what is electron transport

A

Takes place on the inner membrane of the mitochondria. This is where electron acceptors are located. This produces 34 ATP molecules.

17
Q

what is the chemical formula of lactic acid

A

C3H6O3

18
Q

plant anaerobic respiration equation

A

C6H12O6 –> C2H5OH + 2CO2 + ATP

19
Q

animal anaerobic respiration equation

A

C6H12O6 –> C3H6O3 + ATP

20
Q

animal glucose storage molecule

A

fat

21
Q

plant glucose storage molecule

A

starch

22
Q

what is the function of the thylakoid

A

to control many of the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis

23
Q

what is the space between the grana

A

the stroma
