Pacific plate collides with Eurasian plate. Raised seabed by 8 metres resulted 40 metre waves rising up. Waves travelled up to 10 kilometres inland. 1,000 seismometers went off to warn people. 25,000 people we killed. Damaged roads, railways and telephone lines. 2 nuclear power plants let out radiations and people within 20 kilometres were evacuated. Was followed by hundreds of aftershocks
