Satellite and weather stations gather weather information, sent to computers at headquarters of Met Éireann in Dublin. Information is processed and weather forecast is made. Weather forecast is out on radio, television and Internet.

• farmers planning the cutting of silage or harvesting of grain need dry weather
• airports need to know if there will be ice or storms for take off or landing
• fishermen need to know if storms will take them out too far to sea
