Chapter 3 Flashcards
The central mystery of our Catholic faith is..
the Blessed Trinity
The Blessed Trinity is…
the 3 Divine Persons in One God
Name the 3 Divine Persons in the Blessed Trinity
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit
Who became man and lived among us in the person of Jesus Christ?
God the Son
Who is our Creator and was at work in everything Jesus said and did?
God the Father
Who empowered Jesus to teach and to share God’s love?
God the Holy Spirit
The Blessed Trinity is truth of our faith that we know only because..
God has revealed it to us
Believing in this revealed truth of the Blessed Trinity also means…
recognizing God’s love for us.
This loving relationship of Father, Son and Holy Spirit is perfect unity and what God desires for us to
reflect the same unity through truthful and loving relationships with others.
The mystery of who God is
Blessed Trinity
Our belief in the Blessed Trinity is
what the whole life of the Church revolves around
We find the Blessed Trinity when we
make the sign of the cross, conclude our prayers and when we pray (Father, Son and the Holy Spirit)
All who are baptized
become one with God and one another
God is active in our lives as Father, Son and Holy Spirit through
the grace of all the sacraments we receive
In our prayer and liturgy (especially in the Mass), our unity with one another….
is strengthened
in the 2nd Century AD, Christians traced a small cross over their foreheds with their thumbs
before prayers, during the Sacrament of Baptism and at times of temptation
Sometime after the _____ century, the words, “In the name of The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit were added to the gesture of signing the cross.
4th
Tracing a small cross is still part of
the Sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation, Anointing the Sick and Holy Orders.
God created us in his
image
We are meant for
loving relationships and to love God and experience his love for us.
The Great Commandment is
You shall love the Lord, your God, will all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind….You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Jesus taught that we must love…
our enemies and do good to those who hate us, bless those that curse us and pray for those who mistreat us.
Evangelization
is the sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ and the love of God with all people, in every circumstance of life.
to evangeize, we must
know our faith and the teachings of the Church
We evangelize when we:
Speak and act in the ways that reflect God;
tell others about the wonderful things Christ has done;
show (through our words and actions) what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ;
share our faith with those who have not yet heard the message of Jesus Christ;
encourage others who already believe in Jesus Christ to continue to grow their faith
