Civil law
law regulating the relationship between or among individuals, usually involving property, contracts, or business disputes
criminal law two types
substantive and procedural
substantive
laws that define acts that are subject to punishment and specifies the punishments for such offensive (says what is illegal)
procedural
law defining procedures that criminal justice officials must follow in enforcement, adjudication, and corrections (past laws that tell HOW to do job)

you were not allowed to be in there, no reason

if the behavior/ act was listed in substantive… it was a crime

The act of doing
Causation
Causable relationship between act and harm. Committing the crime, taking of something
Harm
Depriving someone of their property, causing damage
Concurrence
Act and intent must be present at the same time
Mens Rea
Intend to commit a crime, blameworthy
Punishment
For Judge to make decision
