Feminist Theory
a theory that analyzes the status of women and men in society to use that knowledge to better women’s lives.
Sexual orientation
refers to an individual’s pattern of physical and emotional arousal toward another person.
Sexual behavior
sexual contacts or actions
Sexual identity
the way people present their sexual preferences
Ethnocentrism
an orientation that holds ones own culture, ethnic, or racial group as superior to others
Stratification
structured inequality of entire categories of people who have unequal access to social rewards
Pluralism
a society in which diverse members maintain their traditions while cooperatively working together and seeing other’s traits as valuable.
Gender identity
usually conforms to anatomic sex in both heterosexual and homosexual individuals
Gender fluidity
when gender expression shifts between masculine and feminine
