What does a behavioural assessment involve?
Variety of methods including direct observation, interviews, checklists and F.A. if appropriate
What is the purpose of a behavioural assessment?
To determine the function of the behaviour and the variables that increasing, decreasing, maintaining or generalizing the behaviour.
What is phase 1 of the behavioural assessment?
Screening and general disposition
What is phase 2 of the behavioural assessment?
Defining and quantifying problems or desired achievement criterion.
What is phase 3 of the behavioural assessment?
Determine the target behavviour
What is phase 4 of the behavioural assessment?
Monitor progress
What is phase 5 of the behavioural assessment?
Follow up
What is an ecological assessment?
Looks at the relationship between the environment and behaviour.
What is reactivity?
The effects of an assessment procedure on behaviour being assessed.
Habilitation
The degree to which the person’s repertoire maximizes short and long term reinforcers for that individual and minimizes short and long term punishers.
What is the relevance of behaviour rule?
a target behaviour should be selected only when it can be determined that the behaviour is likely to produce reinforcement in the person’s natural environment

What should behaviour analysts look for in a target behaviour?
a socially significant behaviour that will increase a person’s habilitation
How do you determine the habilitative value of a potential target behaviour?
Ask will the behaviour be reinforced in the person’s daily life? Is it a pre-requisite skill? Will it allow the person to interact in other environments or allow increase social interactions?
What are the two types of target behaviour definitions?
Function based and topography based
