A

To be able to understand each others background, respect, trust, and develop the interpersonal frame. It’s important to arrive early to the appointment and spend some time with the deaf consumer to know who they are. (building that relationship)

A

To be able to produce an interpretation in a visually accessible way for the consumers. That way they can visualize the information instead of the interpreter signing word per word (drop form).

A

Interpreters should have exposure and learning sources to different cultures. They must understand each culture is different, communication style can be different, perspectives, and more. It is important to understand what is expected and accepted by those members.

A

Being able to understand the norms in cultures can help an individual by respecting each other, have knowledge on how things work within their culture, and what to avoid doing.

A

Their culture, identity, beliefs and much more. Although they may have a similarity but they all identify/view themselves differently from one another.

Being an interpreter can be complex, but having the tools with you can what?

A

Make you a better communicator. An interpreter can produce an interpretation well when having all the tools with them. Although there is room to always improve, an interpreter can understand all point of views of what is being expected and accepted by the community.
