Massive debt. British had to occupy the country to force payment. Partly ruled Egypt for some time

Major industrial powers seeked new markets thru imports and tarrif barriers. Found that colonies weren’t that profitable.
Political causes of new imperialism?
Saw colonies as important military bases/naval coaling stations. Found that they were essential for great nations.
What caused tensions between Deutschland and GB?
They feared Germany as it developed a strong navy. They thought that devilry was going on in Berlin. Germany invaded Belgium, ignoring GB’s request for them to leave. Germany saw sinister plots to stop their development from countries like GB.

Caused by food shortages and decline of moral. Women revolted in St.Petersburg, demanding bread. It was also due to poor ruling of Nick II and the Tsarina
