technique used to desensitize the pt. to the fear associated with a particular anxiety provoking stimulus
flooding
are excessive unwanted intrusive and peristen thoughts impulses or images that cause anxiety and distress
obsessions
behaviors that are performed repeatedly in a ritualistic fashion within the goal of preventing relieving anxiety and distress caused by obsessions
