is initiated by unexpected unusual events that affect an individual or a multitude of people
traumatic
is an intense, emotional reaction to the loss of a loved one. The reaction is a bio psychosocial response that often includes spontaneous expression of pain and sadness
grief
the process of mourning and coping with the loss of a loved one. It begins immediately after the loss, but it can last months or years
bereavment
model of bereavement where a person adjusts to loss by oscillating between loss orientated coping that includes preoccupation with the decease and restoration oriented coping in which the bereaved is preoccupied with stressful events as a result of death
dual process model
grief that is painful and disruptive within normal expectations after the loss of a loved one
uncomplicated grief
a difficult prolonged grief
traumatic
a reaction to the loss of a loved one in which a person is frozen or stuck in a state of chronic mourning
complicated grief
sudden overwhelming catastrophic event that causes great damage and destruction that may involve mass casualities and human suffering requiring assistance from all resurouces
