Chapter 26 Flashcards
Antecedent Intervention
Implemented prior to and independent of the target behavior’s occurence
Noncontingent Reinforcement
Antecedent intervention in which stimuli with known reinforcing properties are delivered on a fixed-time (FT) or variable-time (VT_ schedule independent of the learner’s behavior
Fixed-Time Schedule
Means that the interval of time for the presentation of these stimuli remains the same from delivery to delivery
Variable-Time Schedule
When the interval of time for the presentation of these stimuli varies from delivery to delivery
High-Probability Instructional Sequence
The practioner presents two to five easy-to-follow instructions for which the participant has a history of compliance
Behavioral Momentum
Describe a behavior’s resistance to change following an alteration in reinforcement conditions, and the term is sometimes used to describe the effects produced by high-p instructional sequence
Functional Communication Training
Establishes an appropriate communicative behavior to compete with problem behaviors evoked by a motivating operation
Antecedent Exercise
Requires the individual to engage in some effortful form of aerobic activity prior to receiving a low-p task to complete
Enriched Environment
Intervention provides noncontingent access to preferred sources of reinforcement.
Restraint
Involves physically limiting, prohibiting, or securing in such a manner that the target behavior cannot occur
Function-Based antecedent interventions
Manipulate at least one component of the contingency identified as maintaining the problem behavior
Default Interventions
Do not depend on identifying the variables that evoke and maintain the problem behavior
