Archduke Ferdinand is assassinated by Serbs
From Austria-Hungary
Demands are placed on Serbia by Austria-Hungary
Serbia doesn’t meet some of these demands and Austria-Hungary invades
Russia joins Serbia and appeal to France for their help as well
Germany then joins Austria-Hungary and invade Belgium. Then England joins France

What are the causes of the March revolution?

A

One of the reasons is that the majority peasant population suffered extreme poverty. Another reason would be that the Tsar and elected Duma were both ineffective.

What role did geography play in Germany’s war plans and execution?

A

Germany was faced with the possibility of a 2-front war, France in the west and Russia In the East. The schlieffen plan was designed to avoid this problem. The idea was to ensure a swift victory in the west against France before Russia could mobilize. If France was delegated quickly, then Germany could turn around and fight Russia in the east.

Geographically, Germany was in the middle-between 2 allied powers-France and Russia

How did the treaty of Versailles punish Germany?

A

It forced Germany to assume full blame for causing the war. It improved reparations that covered destructions caused by the war plus pensions for millions of allied soldiers and families (Costing about 30 billion). This took away territories and many overseas colonies The idea of the treaty was to weaken Germany both economically and militarily
