What are construction drawings?

A

Describe in detail the extent of the work and the locations, dimensions, and relationships of the various construction elements. Represent the interior designer’s final decisions concerning design, building methods, and construction technology. The drawings form part of the contract and are legal documents.

What is the general sequence of construction drawings?

A
  • Title and index sheet
  • Floor plans (demolition, construction, finish, power, furniture plans)
  • RCP
  • Elevations
  • Details
  • Mechanical drawings (if required)
  • Electrical drawings (if required)
  • Fire protection drawings (if required)
  • Occasionally structural drawings are needed

How is a drawing set numbered?

A
A - Architectural or interiors
E - Electrical
FP - Fire Protection
I - Interiors (used when a separate series by the architect is part of the set)
M - Mechanical
P - Plumbing
S - Structural

Drawings within each discipline can be grouped. Each time a new group begins, the decimal number starts with 1 again.

What is in the construction plans of a CD set?

A

Shows the building configuration, including all walls, dimensions, existing construction to remain, references to elevations and details drawn elsewhere, room names (and number, if used), floor material indications, millwork, plumbing fixtures, stairs, special equipment, and notes as required to explain items on the plan.

A

Show which existing construction is to remain and which is to be removed. A separate construction plan is then drawn to show new construction.
