What was the ‘Long Telegram’?
A telegram sent by an American Diplomat George Kennan working on Soviet affairs in 46’, sent a telegram back to Washington stating the horrors of the east
What was the ‘iron curtain speech’?
Winston Churchill in 46’, delivered a speech claiming an ‘iron curtain’ had descended across Europe, advising ‘strength’ was needed to deal with the USSR.
What was the ‘Truman doctrine’?
A policy statement issued by President Harry S. Truman in 1947, declaring the commitment of the United States to support countries that were threatened by communism.
What was the ‘Marshall Plans’?
A massive injection of aid to rebuild Europe, by the USA.
