orthomyxo paramyxo rhabdo filo bunya arenaviridae
in order for viruses to reproduce they must complete these 4 steps
adsorption and penetration
uncoating of virus
syn and assembly of viral products and inhibition of
host cells own dna, rna, and protein synthesis
release of virions from the host cell
absorption and penetration of virus
viruses are completely internalized, capsid and nuclei acid
-by endocytosis or by fusion of the virion envelope with the host cell membrane
transcription, translation, and replication of RNA viruses
positive strand process
positive stranded rna viruses
- equiv to preformed messenger RNA
- as soon as invade cell they are ready for translation
- use host cell’s ribosomal proteins and enzymes to ranslate positve RNA into RNA dependent RNA polymerase, to make neg strand copies of their RNA and also more positive strands
negative stranded rna viruses: need viral rna dependent RNA polymerase to make positive strand copy
