Patient’s arrive 1st thing:
- Check them in
- Paper work
- Greet them, what to do and where to go.
Phone etiquette situation-
- Place the pt on the phone on temporarily hold ( no longer than a minute), and take care of the pt in the office.
- Greet pt in the office
HIPAA violation at front desk-
- Reading results
- Insurance information
- Reason for visit
- Demographics
- Sign in sheets,
( Name is allowed, don’t put any personal or reason for visit on the sheet)
Infection control supplies-
- Masks
- Hand sanitizer
- Tissues
- Waste basket or waste receptable
NS- What do we need do?
No show, failure to keep appt. without giving advance notice.
No Show, chart it & call pt
Scheduling-
Open Book ‘ Open Office’:
Open at any given hours
Urgent conditions prioritized
Wave:
Three appointments for same time
Seen in order of arrival
Group:
Pt with similar appt.types are seen on specific days and specific time time blocks.
Self:
patient portal
Advance:
Scheduling weeks or months out
Can be used with other scheduling types
Time specified:
Specific time for each patient.
Patient Portal:
A secure online website that gives pt. 24 hour access to personal health.
Preauthorization:
-process that requires the provider to submit documentation to the payer to show
Precentrification:
- process of determining if service/ procedure is covered by the insurance plan & what the reimbursement is for that service/ procedure.
Verification of Eligibility:
- the patients phone number, address, insurance subscribers DOB should be verified.
