What is dynamic balance?
Dynamic balance means that an ecosystem needs to be able to maintain a balance so that all species can exist at their optimum population size.
What is emigration?
Emigration is when an organism permanently leaves an environment.
What are some natural changes that occur in ecosystems?
Reproduction, death, migration, natural events (e.g seasonal changes), disasters (floods, droughts, earthquakes) and human intervention.
What is an advantage of using quadrats?
They’re good for stationary animals and plants
What is a disadvantage of using quadrats?
They’re useless for animals and plants that move
What is an advantage of using catch and release?
They’re useful for plants and animals that frequently move
What is a disadvantage of using catch and release?
They’re useless for plants and animals that don’t move
What does N1 mean?
Total in first capture
What does N2 mean?
Total in second capture
What does M2 mean?
Total that are marked in second capture
What is the equation to find the total number of animals?
N1 * N2 ÷ M2
