It depicts a topless woman holding the French flag leading troops over dead bodies. It is a romanticized version of war. It is oil on canvas.
What does Goya’s 1808 firing squad depict. What is the medium.
It is a painting of a firing squad executing people. The people being executed are Spaniards and the executioners are French soldiers. The story is that 2 Spanish rebels killed 15 soldiers so napoleon had 1000 innocent people gunned down. The faces of the executioners is hidden but the people being executed isn’t. The raised arms of one of the people being executed is like jesus. It is an oil on canvas.

It shows two men depicting a romanticized mystical moon and their clothes show a yearning for the past. It exemplifies the merging of human form with nature as the viewer looks past the two faceless men who are mesmerized with the moon. They embody the romantic aesthetic of the sublime.

It depicts the House of Commons on fire, it is a real event. Turner frantically sketched in watercolor and later made the final painting with oil on canvas. Turners take on romanticism is shown with the dynamic sweeping brushstrokes and colors that blur the forms.
