Communication?
The transfer of information. Views and ideas from one person to another
Video conferencing?
When people attending a conference in one venue can listen to and see a speaker in another venue
PRO?
Public relations officer. The person in an organisation who is responsible for communications between the firm and the general public

Must be received
Must be understood
Must be accepted
Reliever must take action
2 types of communication?
1)internal
•takes place inside a firm or organisation e.g between managers and employees
2)external
•between and organisation and people outside that organisation e.g business and their supplier
e.g fax, letter
3 forms of communication?
1-oral: talking to each other e.g face to face, telephone
2-written:in writing e.g letters, emails
3-visual:form of pictures e.g tv, ppt presentations
2 advantages of oral communication?
- fast
- mistakes and misunderstandings can be corrected
2disadvantages of oral communication?
- some people do not listen carefully
- often no record of the communication
2advantages of written communication?
- permanent record of communication
- easier to remember
2disadvantages of written communication?
- may take longer to get feedback e.g post
- too much material may be difficult to handle
2advantages of visual communication?
- easy to understand
- trends and comparisons can be made

-usually has to be used with some other form of communication
3 considerations when choosing a method of communication?
- destination(internal or external)
- cost
- Record(do we need a copy for our record)
2 benefits of effective communication?
- the organisation will be more successful because enquirers, orders, invoices and complaints are dealt with quickly and efficiently
- workers will be happier because they feel that they are part of the organisation which will lead them to work harder
