atmospheres absolute (ATA)
water (or air) pressure exerted on the body/ one ATA is the standard pressure placed on the body at seas level. Each 33-ft immersion from sea level equals an increase of 1 ATA. For example, immersion to a depth of 33 feet exerts 2 ATA, 66 feet exerts 3 ATA, 99 feet exterts 4 ATA, and so on.
