What is the purpose of the lymphatic system?
Return fluid and plasma protein to the bloodstream and a checkpoint for pathogens
How do lymph capillaries work?
They weave between tissue cells and blood capillaries in loose connective tissue.
What is the function of lymph capillaries?
The valves at the end open if interstitial fluid is greater than in the capillaries, they close if it is greater inside the capillary than the interstitial fluid
What are collecting lymphatic vessels
They are capillaries together that are critical for transport of lymph and lymph nodes
What is the purpose of lymphatic trunks and what are the 5?
To drain large areas of the body. Lumbar, bronchiomediastinal, subclavian, jugular, intestinal
What are the two primary lymphoid organs?
Thymus and red bone marrow
What are the three secondary lymphoid organs?
Spleen, MALTs (mucosa associated lymphoid tissue), Lymph nodes
