Chapter 2 - Simple Epithelia Flashcards
1
Q
Epithelial Tissue
A
Makes up the lining of the body.
2
Q
What are the 4 different types of epithelial cells?
A
- Simple squamous epithelium
- Simple cuboidal epithelium
- Simple columnar epithelium
- Pseudostratified epithelium
3
Q
Simple Squamous Epithelium
A
A single layer of flattened cells.
4
Q
Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
A
Also a singular layer of cells, but the cells are in the shape of cubes.
5
Q
Simple Columnar Epithelium
A
A single layer of long column-like cells.
6
Q
Pseudostratified Epithelium
A
A single layer of cells that look stratified on first appearance, however, not all of the cells reach the surface of the tissue. They can be ciliated or non-ciliated.
7
Q
Basement Membrane
A
The non-cellular layer that attaches the epithelium to lower layers.
