Dermal Papilla
This is where hair originates. It contains capillaries and nerves. It’s a part of the hair bulb.
Hair Root
The part of the hair that is in the skin. It is superficial to the hair bulb.
Hair Follicle
Encloses the hair.
The (1) is a bundle of smooth muscles that causes the hair to stand on end. It also causes secretion of (2) glands

Once the hair erupts from the skin, it is known as the (1). This consists of layers of dead (2) cells.

The hyponychium, the germinal matrix and the nail bed contribute cells that make up the (1).
