Autoimmune disorder

A

A disease in which the body produces a defective immunological response against itself. Normally the body’s immune mechanisms can distinguish between normal and foreign substances. In autoimmune diseases, the immune system produces antibodies against normal parts of the boy to such an extent as to cause tissue injury.
