Q
How Does a Capacitor Start Single Phace Induction Motor work?
A
- The Capacitor Start Single Phase motor works by phase splitting
- The Capacitor Phase Shifts the supply to the aux winding’s by 90 degrees
- This Phase shift to the Aux Windings is only need on startup and can be turn of with the use of a centrifugal switch
- D.O.R is determined by the manner in which the auxiliary winding is electrically connected in the circuit.

Q
Explain All components In a Capacitor Start Single Phase induction Motor?
A
- The Main Winding use to create magnetic flux for rotation of the rotor
- The Capacitor which phase shift the supply to the Aux winding by 90 degrees
- The Aux winding setup the magnetic field to aid starting of the motor
- Rotor, which get an induced emf from the main winding and aux winding (on startup)
- there maybe a cenrifugal switch to isolate the aux winding when motor as reached a fast enough speed for the main winding to take over.
