Chapter 13 - High Frequency Generators or Permanent Magnet Generator. Flashcards
1
Q
Explain why AC Generators designs will not work for a high frequency Generator?
A
- With a conventional salient pole or cylindrical rotor any attempt to greatly increase the number of poles would lead to centrifugal force problems
2
Q
Explain How 1600 Hz Generator produces such a High Frequency Output?
A
- The Rotor is A Permant Magnet in 2 halves
- One half has North Pole Inductors
- The other half has South Pole Inductors
- The North & South Poles are Slightly missaligned which is set by the manufacturer/Operator.
- If the poles where perfectly aligned the resultant EMF would be zero.

Q
List an application for a High Frequency Generator?
A
- The HF Generator is used to power the Hand or A.V.R for contolling the Main Generator output.
