• A DC Motor is a machine which converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.
• This mechanical energy, in the form of torque, can be used to drive pumps, fans, etc.

What is meant by the term Motor Effect?

Answer 2

• Motor effect happens when a current carrying conductor lies within a magnetic field.
• Because the current carrying conductor produces a magnetic field itself depended on the direction of current will decide the direction of force acting on the conductor.
• Flemings left hand rule can be used to find the direction of force/motion

Explain how the direction of torque is giving in a motor?

Answer 3

Direction of torque can be asurtained by the use of Fleming’s Left Hand Rule.

• Forefinger Indicates direction of Flux.
• Middle finger indicates direction of Current Flow.
• Thumb indicates direction of motion of the conductor
