What is trademark
Trademark could be insignia, logo or slogan etc registered for company
What are types of trademarks
- Coin trade mark
- Arbitrary trade mark
- Suggestive trade mark
- Descriptive trade mark
What is coin trade mark
These are trade marks which are not related to name of product. (e.g. Polaroid, now nobody could know what is Polaroid)
What is Arbitrary trade mark
It is the trade mark in which the word allocated for trade mark have no relationship with actual product. (e.g. apple)
What is Suggestive trade mark
It gives suggestions to people about the product (abc shampoo)
What is Descriptive trade mark
It describe the product directly (e.g. rubberX)
What is copyright
It is authorship of something. According to Americans its life is 50 or 75 years.
What is trade secret
Business secret
What is licensing
It is a contract between 2 companies
What are types of licensing
- Franchising
- Licensing on events (e.g. cricket match)
What is franchising
There are 2 license holders. One is main license holder, who provides food, recipe etc and set standards. The other party use brand name.
