What was reconstruction?
Reconstruction is the task of rebuilding the Confederate states and readmitting them into the Union.

His plan was to get 10% of voters in the South to be loyal to the North, then they could start their own government.
Why were radical republicans considered “radical”?
They were considered radical because they were very powerful and they favored a more radical approach to the reconstruction.

Andrew Johnson was the Vice President who became President after Lincoln died.
Describe Johnson’s reconstruction plan.
He gave amnesty to most southerners who swore loyalty to the North but humiliated the higher ranked Confederates who tried to appeal the president. He also appealed slavery in the southern states.
What did the 13th Amendment do?
The 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States.
