If it causes stress, anxiety or unhappiness for the individual doing the action or the individual receiving the action

An “abnormal” sexual bahviour
What is a courtship disorder?
Where individuals lack the social skills to approach sex in a consenting manner
What is the psychoanalytic and behavioural theory for the development of paraphilias?
Psychoanalytic: fear of castration, sexual abuse and early trauma
Behavioural theory: Classical conditioning; sexual pleasure wrongly associated with paraphilic object
What are the steps of assessment for paraphilic disorders?
- Interview: family history, education, health, and sexual and personal relationships
- Psychometrics: Intelligence testing, personality inventory, mental health diagnostic
What is cognitive behavioural therapy?
Challenge offenders distorted thinking, making offender disclose offence to a group and devise a safety plan to decrease risks
