Q

Why is it difficult to asses how widespread and to what extent the laity supported Edwardian refoms

A
  • In some localities, such as South-West and Lancashire, liturgical objects and vestments were hidden away before arrival of commisonars, only to be brought out on the acccession of Mary
  • Suppporters who rode into London with Mary in 1553, were mostly Catholics, who voted against Protestant initatives such as Prayer Book
