It is a powerful tool that allow speakers to make a lasting image for the audience, using visual stimulus.
What are the 7 basic types of visual aides?
Objects (show + tell), models (practical representations), graphs (clear + interesting), maps (make a point geographically), tables (fact/stat comparisons), photographs (strong visual image), and drawings (rare, when picture isn’t good enough).
What are the 6 types of media for displaying visual aids?
Whiteboards, posterboard, handouts, video clip (with no sound is always better), projectors, and powerpoints (very common).
What are the guidelines for competent visual aids?
Visual aids should be simple, highly visible, neat, accurate, and attractive. It is also important to not block the audience’s view, have aides kept close to you, and put aids away when not in use. Please don’t talk in the dark when showing a v.s. and don’t circulate aids.
What is the #1 rule when using visual aids?
Always, ALWAYS anticipate problems.
