A
-Way the body moves and maintains balance while making the most efficient use of all of its parts.

Eight basic rules of body mechanics
A
- Maintain broad base of support; feet should be kept 8-10 inches apart
- Bend from hips and knees with back straight
- Use shoulder, upper arm, hip and thigh muscles since they are the strongest.
- Push, slide or pull and object rather than lift whenever possible.
- Carry heavy objects close to the body
- Avoid twisting body while working
- Avoid bending for long periods
- Always get help if patient or object is too heavy

- Do not perform any procedure unless instructed to do so
- Knock on the door before entering any room
- Always identify patient
- Always explain the procdure being done
- Check patient areas for safety hazards
- Check all safety checkpoints before leaving a patient in a bed

Important steps to take during a fire
A
RACE R- Rescue anyone in immediate danger A- Activate the alarm. C- Contain the fire E- Extinguish the fire or evacuate the area.
