Natal family
The family into which a person is born and usually raised

Reckoning descent through women, who are descended from an ancestral woman
Cognatic
Reckoning decent through either men or women from another ancestor
Genealogic amnesia
Structural process of forgetting whole groups of relatives, usually because they are not currently significant in social life

A system of naming parents by the names of their children
Bride price or bridewealth
Exchange of gifts or money to compensate another clan or family for the loss of one of its women along with her productive and reproductive abilities and marriage
