Chapter 13 - Inferential Statistics Flashcards
Inferential statistics
data analysis techniques for determining how likely it is that results obtained from a sample or samples are the same results that would have been obtained from the entire population
ANOVA (analysis of variance)
a parametric test of significance used to determine whether scores from two or more groups are significantly different at a selected probability level
t test
used to determine whether two groups of scores are significatly different at a selected proabability level
F ratio
A computation used in analysis of variance to determine whether variances among sample means are significantly different.
ANCOVA (analysis of covariance)
a form of ANOVA that accounts for the different ways in which the independent variables are measured, taking into account the design of the study
