when the power holder can exert influence using punishment and threat. like reward power but often support for legitimate power

When they have special information or expertise that the organization value

What are extraordinary activities?
excellent job but might not be enough obtain power

What are visible activities under doing the right things?
extraordinary act will fail to generate power if not one knows about them.
people who have an interest in power are especially good at identifying visible activities and publicizing them.
What are relevent activities under doing the right things?
extraordinary, visible work may fail to generate power if no one cares. if nobody seen work as relevent it will not add value
