Gender Binary?
Classification of people into 1 or 2 categories, male or female
Gender role?
Set of norms or culturally defined expectations, that define how people of one gender ought to behave
Stereotype?
a generalization about a group of people that distinguishes them from others
(Gender-role) socialization?
Refers to the ways in which society conveys to the individual its norms and expectations for his or her behavior

Adolescent male sexuality is body-centered, and the person-centered aspect is added later in life. For women it is the opposite

A broad term, includes persons whose gender identity doesn’t match their gender assigned at birth
Transsexual?
A person who believes that they were born with the body of the other gender
- Term usually for those who undergo medical treatments such as surgery or hormone therapy
Gender dysphoria?
Psychological distress about the mismatch between one’s gender identity and the natal gender
When does gender dysphoria appear?
-It can already be seen in childhood (3-5 years old) but doesn’t always persist in adulthood
-Gender dysphoria in adolescence is more likely to persist into adulthood
What term does ICD use for gender dysphoria?
Gender Incongruence of Childhood/Adolescence and Adulthood
What are the steps to getting gender reassignment surgery?
