intransitive preposition
The prepositions we find in so-called ‘phrasal verbs’.

syntactic argumentation
A methodological process of reasoning in the domain of syntax. (177)
particle
an unchanging word that does not belong to other word classes but is nonetheless involved in the sentence e.g. ‘out’
phrasal-prepositional verb
verbs which involve prepositions and take a Complement. e.g. put up with.
phrasal verb
eg. send out, go out.
Where there is a strong bond between send/go and the element out so the two are regarded as one phrasal verb. They can be transitive or intransitive.
prepositional verb
Verbs that take a prepositional phrase as a Complement.
e.g. approve of, believe in
syntactic features
noun = [+N, -V] verb = [-N, +V] adjective = [+N, +V] preposition = [-N, -V]
transitive preposition
A preposition that requires a NP Complement.
verb-preposition constructions
A construction with a verb that subcategorises an intransitive prepostitional phrase.
