  • they are good conductors of heat and electricity
  • soft, can be cut with a knife
  • Low melting and boiling points
  • Low density’s, can float on water

What is the order of reactivity in group 1?

A

They are more reactive up the group.

As you go down the group the size increases, so more energy is needed.

What is there reaction with water?

A

They react vigorously giving a solution of the metal hydroxide and hydrogen.
It will move around, fizz, bubbles of gas and get smaller.
