What do LH and FSH do?
stimulate gonads, essential for reproduction, and regulate aspects of gonadal function in both sexes.
What does LH do in the Testes?
LH binds to receptors (Leydig cells) and converts to testosterone
What does LH do in the Ovaries?
Theca cells respond to LH and converts to testosterone. Converts to estrogen by granulosa cells.
Stimulates the maturation of ovarian follicles and support sperm cell maturation(supports function of sertoli cells)
FSH
Erectile dysfunction, decresed libido, infertility, and low energy are symptoms of what?
low FSH in males
Oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea, and infertility are symptoms of what?
low and high FSH in females
What is the most frequently prescribed fertility drug?
Clomid
What occurs when taking Clomid?
The body things estrogen is too low so the hypothalamus releases GnRH and the pituitary increases FSH. The follicle grows produces estrogen which matures the oocyte for ovulation (forced ovulation)
What is a side effect of taking clomid?
headache
What does Gastrin do?
increases gastric acid secretion
Where is gastrin produced?
G cells in the stomach
Where is Grehlin produced?
stomach
What does Grehlin do?
stimulates appetite
Where is secretin produced?
duodenum and jéjunum by S cells
What does secretin do?
dilution and neutralization of stomach acid
