Mild anxiety
restlessness, increased motivation, irritability
Moderate anxiety
agitation, muscle tightness
Severe anxiety
inability to function, ritualistic behavior, unresponsive
Panic anxiety
distorted perception, loss of rational thought, immobility
Separation anxiety disorder
excessive fear or anxiety when separated from individual with emotional attachment
Panic disorder
recurrent panic attacks
Phobias
fears a specific object or situation unreasonably
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
uncontrollable, excessive worry for more than 3 months
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
intrusive thoughts of unrealistic obsessions
Hoarding disorder
difficulty parting with possessions
Acute stress disorder
exposure to traumatic event causes numbing, detachment, amnesia for at least 3 days (not more than 1 month)
PTSD
intense fear, horror, flashbacks, feeling of detachment and foreboding, restricted affect, impairment for longer than 1 month

Agoraphobia - avoids being outside, impaired ability to work
GAD

uncontrollable, excessive worry for more than 3 months
significant impairment in functioning
restlessness, muscle tension, avoidance of stressful events, increased time/effort needed to prepare for events
procrastination in decision-making
seeks repeated reassurance
Acute Stress Disorder vs. PTSD
both = after trauma, fear, helplessness, horror ACD = immediate and for 3 days - 1 month PTSD = can be delayed for months-years, duration = more than 1 month ACD = distress when reminded, dreams/images, reliving thru flashback PTSD = intrusive recollection of event, dreams/images, reliving thru flashbacks, illusions, hallucinations ACD = dissociative manifestations, amnesia of trauma, absent emotional response, decreased awareness of surroundings, depersonalization, severe anxiety PTSD = increased arousal, irritability, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, avoidance of stimuli associated with trauma
